The Omega IV Crisis

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701, under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, arrived at Omega IV. There, she saw her sister ship, the USS Exeter. Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy, and Lieutenant Galloway beamed over to the Exeter and found her crew dead. The Exeter's crew were crystalized by the Omega IV virus. Kirk and the landing party became infected with the virus. So they beamed down to the planet to find a cure. The landing party saw a Kohm village. In that village was the Exetet's commander, Captain Ronald Tracey. Tracey halted the execution of the Yangs to greet Kirk. Kirk and his landing party found out that Tracey had violated the Prime Directive by giving phaser weapons to the Kohm villagers so that they could destroy the Yang raiders. Kirk read the United States Constitution preamble, which the Yangs held dear to their heart. This impressed Cloud William, the Yangs' leader. Captain Kirk then battled Captain Tracey in a battle between good and evil. Kirk defeated Tracey, but refused to kill him. Cloud William was impressed again. Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Dr. McCoy beamed back to the Enterprise with Tracey under arrest. When the Enterprise returned to Earth, the Federation court-martialed Captain Tracey, kicked him out of Starfleet, and imprisoned him.
